Elon Musk has bought Twitter

Elon Musk, the world's richest man, bought Twitter, a social network with 200 million users. With the completion of the 44 billion deal Twitter will eventually become a private company.

Musk claims that there is ample opportunity for free speech on Twitter, but that it is not properly enforced. He finally got the responsibility of that platform through this historic deal. On April 14, Musk expressed interest in buying all of Twitter's shares at 54.20 per share. For the next week or so, speculation about the future of Twitter continued.

Twitter's board of directors initially opposed the "takeover" but eventually agreed to the deal. Elon Musk is finally set to officially become the owner of Twitter with his 21 billion, along with Morgan Stanley and other financial institutions.

Launched in 2006, the company has a current market cap of about 40 billion. In November 2021, Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey resigned as CEO and handed over the reins to former Chief Technology Officer, Parag Agarwal.

Note that Mask himself uses a lot of Twitter. Mask currently has more than 63 million followers on Twitter. Musk said in a tweet that he wants to buy Twitter in 2016. In his tweet, Musk cited various reasons for the need to turn it into a private company in order to establish the highest level of freedom of speech on Twitter. In a recent tweet, Elon Musk wrote, "I hope my worst critics are on Twitter, because that's what freedom of speech means."
